Born in Goshen, Indiana, He graduated from Syracuse High School, class of 1962.
At the age of nine, Jerry discovered a lifelong passion for water skiing. He began competing at age fifteen and quickly developed his talent into an extraordinary career as a world-class champion skier and record holder. In recognition of his achievements, he was inducted into the Indiana Water Ski Hall of Fame in 2011. Jerry remained actively involved in the skiing community throughout his life, including becoming the President of International Novice Tour (INT) which brought him much joy. He continued to support and promote the sport while enjoying time at his own ski lake in New Haven, Indiana.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he built a long and distinguished career in the insurance industry. Jerry served as an insurance agent with Indiana Farm Bureau beginning in 1968 where he developed meaningful, lifelong relationships with many clients who became dear friends. After retiring from Farm Bureau, he continued his commitment to helping others by working with United Healthcare, assisting individuals with Medicare and health insurance eligibility.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with calling from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.

​Boat dealers from all over the Midwest are showing their wares at different boat shows.  
Boat Show dates are Cincinnati, this past weekend Jan. 23-25 and Jan. 28-Feb 1. Louisville is Jan. 28 - Feb 1st.  Indianapolis (the best!) is Feb. 20 -22, and Feb 25 - March 1.   
Indiana's own IWSA has their opening board meeting on February 10th.   
Spring is just around the corner!

]]><![CDATA[Ski Clubs Wrapping It Up For Winter]]>Tue, 18 Nov 2025 16:03:06 GMThttp://www.indianawaterski.org/iwsa-water-ski-blog/ski-clubs-wrapping-it-up-for-winter​The local ski clubs are closing up for the winter.  Silent Shores took out their buoys several weeks ago.  Kokomo club put in their "winter buoys" a couple of weeks ago.  Cindonway Shores water level is way down for the winter.  Ski Klub of Indy near Shelbyville closed up several weeks ago.  Sawmill leaves their buoys in all winter!  Kodiak Lake boats are out.  Lots of changes at Brewski Lake on Indianapolis East side....old building was torn down and a new barn is going up in its place.  Last skiers were on November 13th and the course was winterized on the 14th.  Several clubs have set tournament dates for 2026.  We still need to here from a couple of other clubs for 2026 events.

​The board of directors held their annual meeting and formed a new Board of Directors for 2026.  Tournament selection for 2026 and the site of the Indiana State Championships was also decided.  (the new 2026 Board of Directors,  Tournament Schedule,  and Indiana Championships host  will appear on the web site soon)  A general membership meeting and  awards ceremony after the dinner was hosted by "MC" Kent Hoops  (he missed his calling!)  who awarded several skiers with official plaques.
