June 2026 AWSA Midwest Newsletter
Timberlake Tournament
The weather gods were not very kind to the folks at Timberlake on Saturday, June 27th, 2026. Several weather delays and the threat of 3 inches of rain and thunderstorms did not prevent the first 3 event Indiana tournament of the 2026 season. It seemed like "family day" at Timberlake as many of the skiers had the same last names. There were father , daughters, father, sons, entire families, and a number of singles participating in the event. Congratulations to Maggie Cramer who skied in her first tournament in several years along with hubby Joe. (She was busy building a family!) The next scheduled Indiana tournament is July 11th at Kodiak Lake.
Four IWSA Skiers Compete at JR US Open
We have four Indiana skiers that will be competing this weekend, June 27-29, 2026 in the Junior US Open,
at Skyview Lake, in Harmony, North Carolina.
Jacob, Jenna, and Joy Bucher, as well as Charlie Cross, all will be participating in this event.
Give them a shout out, and wish them luck!

Champion Lake Tournament
The official first day of summer and Fathers Day....what better way to celebrate than attend the Champion Lake Record Tournament on June 21st, 2026! The folks at Champion Lake must have said their prayers....rain predicted.....replaced by sunshine and clouds for a perfect conditions day for skiing. (Even the wind cooperated!)
Skiers from yesterday's Sawmill event plus additional skiers posted several "PBs" and enjoyed the hospitality from Champion Lake families. Next scheduled sanctioned tournament is next weekend (June 27th) at Timberlake.
Don't forget to stop by Morse Reservoir for the RHI event on Wednesday and Thursday this week at Red Bridge Park in Cicero.

Sawmill Tournament
The very first sanctioned tournament of the 2026 season opened on Saturday, June 20th, at Sawmill Lake near Columbus, Indiana. A full house enjoyed the good weather day (except for some wind) and the hospitality provided by host residents. New property owners Erwins welcomed guests at their dock and beach along with lunch served for skiers and contestants and probably a few more friends. Skiers enjoyed being pulled by a new Correct Craft for the first round and a new Mastercraft for the second round. Many of the skiers will compete at the Champion Lake event on Sunday, June 21st.

IWWF Celebrates 80 Years
The IWWF is excited to celebrate 80 years since its founding in 1946, marking eight decades of leadership, innovation, and global growth in towed water sports.
Established to unite the sport internationally, the IWWF was created to develop unified rules, competition, and pathways for athletes worldwide. Over the years, the federation has evolved alongside the sport itself, expanding across continents, welcoming new disciplines, gaining recognition from the International Olympic Committee, and supporting generations of athletes, officials, and organizers around the world.
From the early days of international congresses to today’s global structure with five continental Confederations, the IWWF’s history reflects continuous evolution, from traditional tournament skiing to the growth of cable and board sports, driven by innovation, youth engagement, and a shared passion.
To commemorate this milestones, the IWWF proudly unveils its 80th Anniversary logo, a symbol of its rich heritage, global community, and lasting commitment to the future of towed water sports, along with a video celebrating how far the sport has come since its beginnings.
As we honor the past, the IWWF looks ahead with confidence, inspired by athletes, Federations, officials, partners, sponsors, and supporters who continue to shape the next chapter of towed water sports worldwide.
