Door prizes were sponsored by MD Boats and Skiers Edge. The event was attended by 88 members of the
IWSA and awards were presented to the following skiers.
Skier of the Year - Cale
Burdick
Cale continues to excel in his skiing talents.
His slalom is becoming world class, and has been invited to the Masters in
Australia as well as the US. Finished 2nd in slalom at Nationals and
2nd overall holds a boys 3jump state record and his trick score keeps
climbing every year.
Male Skier of the Year - Scott Tynan
Scott has been working hard on his slalom the last few
seasons and has had the 39 off blues for some time. Scott has been skiing very
well in the slalom event, coming very close to running the 39 off pass just to
come up a little short many times over again. He placed 2nd in the Nationals
just ½ buoy behind the leader in the open 55K slalom division. He finally ran
the pass in the last tournament of the year at his home site in Columbus In, at
Sawmill Lake.
Female Skier of the Year - Prissy Edwards
Prissy has been breaking records at the state tournaments for
years. This year was no different breaking all the records in
the Women 5 division. Prissy also finished in 1st overall at
Nationals and Regionals.
Junior Male Skier of the Year - Nate Smith
Nate swept the 1st place slalom placements this
year at Regionals and Nationals with 2 and 3 bouys at 35 off respectively. He
moves up to Boys 3 next year and shows no sign of slowing down.
Junior Female Skier of the Year - Amanda Burney
Amanda holds state records in slalom and overall.
Finished 2nd in slalom 3rd in jump and 2nd overall at regionals and a
respective 7th overall at nationals after a close run off for 5th
place in slalom which she ended 7th.
Family Skiers of the Year - Kim and Casey Contos
What a year for the Contos family. Casey skied first in
the Nationals and placed 2nd in slalom with a score of 4 at 38 off, well above
his seed. Then two days later Kim skies in the men’s 4 division and after a 4way
tie placed 5th. This is the first time either had placed in the Nationals event
and they both did it in the same event. It was quit dramatic.
Kneeboard Skier of the Year - Kevin Felver
Kevin has been on the top of the wakeboard world for
some time, and continues to dominate. He holds the record in the slalom event
and swept the awards in this years Nationals with a win in Slalom tricks and
overall.
Wake Board Skier of the Year - Nick Jarvis
Nick has attended and help out at every wakeboard tournament
this year, won the state wakeboard title and attended the 03 wakeboard
nationals.
Ski Club of the Year - Hawthorn
The Hawthorn Lake site was the host of this years state
tournament. What a great job they had done. They also continue to hold many
tournaments a year including NSL events jump and ski fly clinics and drivers
clinics.
Official of the Year - Carl "BRC" Truesdale
BRC is everywhere. Carl sits on the state board, organizes
clinics and helps out in every way. He's helping out at the smallest events to
running the show at the Regionals and Nationals.
NSL Skier of the Year - Dave Jarrett
Dave is the kind of skier that you wish would come to
your site. After his NSL slalom event at the state tournament at Hawthorn , he
stayed and volunteered his time and helped dock start the events for the rest of
the day. This is the kind of contributions that will keep the sport going.
Big Rig Jumper of the Year - Chase McCain
Chase had an incredible year in the jump event. Having
just started jumping this year, he went on to qualify for regionals in the state
tournament. Jumped 83 feet at Regionals for 3rd place and qualified
for Nationals. Then went to Nationals and jumps 86 feet for 8th
place. That’s incredible for his first season on the ramp.
Most Improved Skier of the Year - Jared Sharkey
Jared trick skis in the boys 2 division, having
struggled a little this year finishing with a kind of disappointing 670 points
in the Regionals for 5th place and securing an entry to the
Nationals. His family decided to take the trip to Texas and if nothing else
it would be good experience. Jared held nothing back and placed 5th in the
Nationals with a score of 2480. Then got on a new ski and went on to trick in
the 4,000's by years end. What a great achievement.
