Attendance at the 2024 Indiana State Water Ski Championships probably broke attendance records! Over 100 pulls required the one day event to begin at 7:30 AM and it ended when the last "tricker" landed at the starting dock at 8:20 PM! Team Kodiak Lake and Team Bucher/Cindonway vied for the most team points all day long. Thanks to all the helpers and workers (especially the Detty Families) for putting on a first class event. Thanks also to the Kodiak Lake group for hosting the evening dinner at the their home late at night. The next events include: Midwest Regionals at Water's Edge in Illinois August 2-4. USA Water Ski Nationals in Bakersfield in California August 13-17. Sawmill Lake back in Indiana on August 24th. Champion Lake near McCordsville on August 25th.

Silent Shores did not live up to its nickname on Saturday! The weather gods cooperated and gave skiers a "windless" day! There might have been a bit of "orange peel" but the skiing conditions were ideal. A few "PBs" made the day even better. When not skiing, some youngsters were catching fish! And don't forget the traditional pork burgers from the grill. Next weekend is the Indiana State Water Ski Championships at Hawthorn Lake near Danville, Indiana. The weather got better as the day went on. Excellent water conditions surprised everyone who attended the second "Get Wet Wednesday" held at Brewski Lake in Indianapolis on July 10th, 2024. Numerous skiers appeared to take advantage of "coaching" by Neal Clark and expert driving from Bryan Dougherty. The day ended when there was no more daylight! Keep a lookout for the next "Get Wet Wednesday" to be held in August sometime. The June 30th, 2024 Champion Lake Water Ski Tournament is now in the record books. A cold front moved through providing excellent water ski conditions and enjoyable weather. Check the USA Water Ski site for actual ski results. As usual the Champion Lake residents put out the welcome mat to everyone. Next sanctioned tournament is at Kodiak Lake on July 13th, 2024 The first sanctioned water ski tournament of the 2024 season went off without a "hitch" at beautiful Sawmill Lake near Columbus, Indiana on Saturday, June 29th.. Skiers of all ages and abilities enjoyed the usual hospitality and beauty of the area. A sprinkle or two and head/tail breeze didn't seem to bother the participants. Best score of the day came from Nate Smith doing 1 @ 43 off in a tail wind. The second tournament of the season was at Champion Lake on Sunday, June 30th. |
