Carl Truesdale pictured here with his wife Margret has been one of IWSA's biggest assets over the past two decades. What many people didn't know is Carl was a ski activist himself in his younger days as shown in some of these images that are displayed behind him. Carl became a Father, Coach, and Driver to three of his own very active skiing children. Tom, was state and regional record holder and a national finalist, and one of the founding fathers of the Big Rig Club. Carla, held numerous state and regional titles and went on to graduate from Purdue where she was woman's regional all round champion and national finalist. Carla also was the collegiate rep to the IWSA board and was IWSA Junior Development Chairman for many years. Marie , was also a state, regional and national trick finalist.
Carl's numerous years of service was as an official of some kind. He was a Senior/Pan Am Judge, regular scorer, assistant driver and 3 event tech controller and served these positions at many state, regional and national events. From 1995 - 2009 Carl had worked 221 tournaments and was tech controller at the 2003 US Open. In 2003 Carl was IWSA Official of the Year, in 1999 he was awarded the Rollie Williams Memorial Award and was the recipient of the Mary Jo Powers award at the Mid West Regionals. He was two time Disabled National Tournament Co-Chair and Organizer and was the World Police and Fireman's Games Tournament Director. This isn't the only Hall of fame Carl is in, he also is in the IHSAA Wrestler's Hall of fame.
As you see here Carl has many grand kids that keep him occupied today, reminding everyone that at one time his nickname was BRC- meaning, Big Rig carl, Now he says it's BRCC- meaning Big Rig Child Care. That sounds like another story.
