And the dam broke! The White River dam just below 16th Street in Indianapolis broke in September of 2018. The Indianapolis Utility (formerly Indianapolis Water Company) which is responsible for the dam attempted some repairs on the dam which failed. The result is the river upstream which was known as Lake Indy and home of the Indy Skiers water ski club is now approximately 6 feet low. This makes the river and Lake Indy too shallow and narrow for use by the Indy Skiers. The Indianapolis Utility does have repairs on the books but it may take as long as 2 years to happen. The Indy Skiers desperately need a temporary and possibly more permanent home. Members are on the hunt for any possible sites.
