The first summer tournament in Indiana for 2017 " came in like a lamb and went out like a lion!" Glen Reid (Men's 8 three eventer) started off the day by landing 3 jumps. Then the slalom skiers took over for three rounds of "breezy" sets! The first round was blessed with an "orange peel" surface but the 2 successive rounds got a bit "choppy" with a direct West wind coming down the lake. Congrats to Neal Clark who accomplished his PB tournament score of 2 @ 39' off. Nate Smith skied 1.5 @ 43' off on his home lake and later was in the driver's seat for part of the tournament. The HO Junior Development Team tent was up for shade and sharing. The next scheduled event is July 1st at Hawthorne Lake near Danville, Indiana.

Accolades to Kent Hoops and family for organizing and rounding up sponsors and volunteers for the 2-day event held at Brewski Lake in Indianapolis. Thanks to sponsors Pinecrest Marine, HO Water Sports, IWSA, and Mastercraft Boats. Coaches Megan Lambert, Casey Contos, DeeDee Tucker, Kent Hoops and drivers Phil Mishler, Jeff Cross, and Neal Clark spent 9- hour days with the youngsters improving their skills in both slalom and trick water skiing. In addition to water skiing skills, the skiers enjoyed a fishing contest, archery, bean bag toss, playing on water slides, lunch, and cliff jumping off the boat house! Watch for the red Syndicate HO junior's tent at the tournaments this summer. First tournament of the summer season is next Saturday at Champion Lake. It might have been a little chilly and lot windy but that didn't stop numerous skiers from attending and participating in the annual RHI Morse Reservoir Water Ski Event. Thursday's weather was predicted to be much better. The annual IWSA Spring Fling brought out numerous central Indiana water skiers. The weatherman missed it again as it was a perfect summer sunny day. In addition to the usual free skiing sets plus burgers and hot dogs off the grill, a drivers clinic was operated during the day. Numerous drivers jumped in the boat and many of the drivers also donned their skis and took a set. Kids and adults enjoyed the water slides and just plain relaxing. The IWSA sponsored Driver's Clinic was conducted by Brian Detty, Mike Patterson, and Gary Hall on the morning of June 3rd prior to the Spring Fling event which began at 11:00 AM. The Classroom session was held upstairs at the Brewski boathouse apartment while the kids and participants played and skied on the lake. Later in the day, numerous drivers fulfilled their practicum driving experience. Many thanks to the officials for conducting this much needed session. |
