The final Indiana Water Ski Tournament of the 2017 is a "wrap!" Summer weather returned on Saturday, September 16th and produced perfect calm sunny weather conditions for the entire day. This tournament drew skiers from Michigan, Florida, Ohio, Texas, and our own Indiana. The event was listed as slalom only but as one skier noted, it is essentially a 3-event tournament if you fall at the far end near 5 or 6 ball.....then it becomes "ski-swim-hike" back to the starting dock! A "full house" made the event last into the evening with a final Mexican Fiesta by Sawmill residents. Now it's time for thinking ahead to the fall IWSA Banquet on November 4th. Nominations for awards are being accepted....send to Dave Jarrett @ [email protected]. As the final Indiana Water Ski Tournament at Sawmill this coming Saturday approaches, it's time to be thinking about the fall IWSA events. The annual fall banquet is scheduled for November 4th, 2017 and we need to be thinking about nominations for the awards that will be presented at the banquet. Awards for both 2017 achievements and Hall of Fame should be considered. An appropriate form is attached and do note that awards need to be finalized by October 5th in order to have physical awards made. Labor Day Weekend was busy for Indiana Water Skiers. Timberlake near Mt. Vernon in southern Indiana enjoyed a "full house" of water skiers. Word is that they were at their maximum for entries.
The annual Bucher Family/Cindonway Labor Day Tournament enjoyed perfect weather and ski conditions. Trickers started out each day until the sun got overhead so the Slalom and Jumpers would have no glare. Intermission between rounds featured grassroots and little tykes skiing while the adults enjoyed lunch put out by Peggy Bucher. Some of the skiers went into Warsaw on Saturday night and enjoy a spectacular ski show put on by the Lake City Skiers. Monday brought more tricking and "team skiing." Three teams competed and team Cindonway West made up of all Buchers and Aaron Hutton won the event. |
