Midwest Regionals Done! Off to the Nationals! Spectacular weather blessed the 2017 Midwest Regionals and Trophy Lakes in Center City, Minnesota this past weekend. Warm days, cool smooth water, excellent hospitality, and outstanding skiing made for a magical 3 days. Team Indiana made a good showing competing against other mid-west states and numerous Indiana skiers placed on the podium. One of the most exciting events was the duel between Nate Smith and Cale Burdick of Michigan that had all the spectators lining the banks and cheering both skiers on. (Nate and Cale had their skiing carrer beginnings together on Champion Lakes in McCordsville, In.) Midwest Regional Tournament Championships were capture by Coltin Bucher (B1 slalom); Julie Mishler (G1 slalom, tricks, and overall); Kim Contos (M6 slalom); Mark Schmitt (M6 overall); Paul Manning (M7 tricks); Dave Jarrett (M8 slalom); Nate Smith (OM slalom); Jill Smith (W3 tricks); Cheryl Schmitt (W6 tricks, jump, and overall); Prissy Edwards (W7 tricks, jump, and overall). Congratulations to these Champions! The focus for many participants now turns to the Nationals that begin on August 26th in Texas.
