Last fall when Neal Clark and Tony Lambert reserved the June 25th date for a "night ski tournament," we all thought that they had entered into the first phases of dementia! The Boonedocks Lake team put on an outstanding event on one of the summer's most pleasant evenings. The first round began at 5:00 PM with all skiers (numerous grassroots and novice skiers) participating. A break in the skiing brought out a terrific supper provide by hosts while tournament workers prepared the shore lights and buoy lighting. Round 2 began at dusk with a skier shooting off roman candles as he skied down the lake. Round 2 continued into the darkness with every skier returning with "ear to ear smiles" on their faces having conquered skiing at night. As midnight arrived, numerous skiers wanted a 3rd round with the boat drivers and judges saying yes yes yes!!! The event wrapped up at approximately 1:30 AM. Adding to this special evening was the appearance of Indiana's own Nate Smith who "cake walked" through 41' off and of course Mother Nature who gave us the perfect clear summer night. Special thanks to Scott Morton and family for providing the site and to Matt Kelly for arranging the stadium lighting. Overheard were conversations about how they would improve the event for next year!
