Actually “Late Summer” tournament experienced some good weather and a little not so good. But water skiers our a tough breed. Champion Lake, McCordsville, (August 25) had sunny skies and good conditions. Where else do you get to ski with the “World Record Holder” Nate Smith ski in a local tournament. And it always good to see a “Three Event” tournament. Here is the link to the scorebook - http://www.usawaterski.org/rankings/ScoreBks/16M013CS.HTM
A bunch of the Purdue skiers old and new got together in Evansville (August 25). You got to love it when there is a bunch of college girls on the shore and the boys bring out the “Big Boards” and do a lot of jumping. College age girls on shore = big jumps! Also in addition to a whole bunch of Schmitts skiing, Open Mens Skier Cale Burdick made the trips from Michigan to put on a fine performance in all three events. That all came to end for the Silent Shores Tournament (September 12). When this old judge pulled into the site my truck register 51o F and the shores weren’t silent due to the wind out of the north. All that however didn’t deter the ” Real Water Skiers “ . Lead off by the little Mishler girls out there showing the rest of the skiers their grit. How could the others not follow. Through all the challenging conditions there where good scores to be had – notably Kim Contos made it all the way down to the 5th buoy at 38 off and Tony Lambert did 4 buoys at 38 off in the rain! Also Molly Harrison score a shade over 4000 trick points. Next year Mikey guarantees good conditions, so come on back.
