Gene Lamberson Retires

Indiana's own Gene Lamberson is officially retiring from water ski tournaments. Gene has skied at every Indiana State Tournament since 1962. Gene was recently honored by the Herald Journal in White County.

The h1gh lights of my skiing carrier;
1. Skied in 55 straight Indiana State Tournaments.
2. Won Trick ski Title 14 times.
3. set 4 State trick records.
4. Received Rollie Williams Award. (1975)
5. Elected to Indiana Water Ski Hall of fame . (1999)
5. Won State in 1971 and followed that with a 5 th Place in
Midwest Regional and a 5 th Place in National
Championship Tournament. (only Nationals)
6. Skied competitively in six States (IN, IL,Oh,Wi,,Mi and Mn)
7. Learned to ski in 1952.

Learned to ski after being Captain of High School Football, Basketball, track teams and All State Sprinter. ( 1958). Won State Football Championship 1956, County basketball Championship in 1957 and four County Track championships (1955 thru 1958)

8. Learned to barefoot ski in 1961. (AWSA barefoot club)
9. Worked as an AWSA Regular Judge for 11 years.

Water Skiing was taken up to fill a void after being a High School Football, Track and Basketball team captain and All State Sprinter
